Node.js Setup
Claude Code, Codex, and other CLI tools require Node.js. Install LTS and verify before proceeding.

Download and install Node.js LTS
Visit nodejs.org and download the LTS release (not Current). Run the installer, then reopen your terminal.

Verify installation
Run both commands and confirm version numbers are printed.
Terminal
node --version
npm --versionVerification
- `node --version` prints v18 or higher.
- `npm --version` prints a version number.
Common Errors
- Not reopening the terminal after install — PATH is not updated yet.
- Installing Current instead of LTS — some tools may be incompatible.
